Termite conducive conditions in young Kalkallo gardens
How new gardens undo termite protection on Kalkallo homes, and what a building and pest inspection looks for.
In short: Termite systems rely on a visible slab edge and dry ground. Mulch, dense planting and leaks undo them. Check the meter box notice and keep the slab edge clear.
Protection starts in the build
Termite management goes in during construction and is recorded on a durable notice in the meter box. We have found that notice missing on Kalkallo jobs at several stages.
How gardens bridge it
Soil, mulch or pavers raised over the slab edge hide any entry. Dense planting against the footings keeps that edge damp and out of sight.
Moisture matters too
Failed sealant, leaking fittings and blocked weep holes keep framing and ground damp, which attracts termites.
What the pest inspection checks
Activity, damage and conducive conditions, with moisture meter and thermal camera support, to AS 4349.3.
